Cars in the Park, including pub evening meal

This ever-popular 2 day event will take place again this year but, whilst the event is nominally advertised as a 2 day event (CPUK will be there on both days), it will be a slightly different format to previous years. It is anticipated that the Sunday will be by far the more popular day. Many car club stands and autojumble stalls are still included and there is easy access into Lichfield town centre.

There will be a CPUK Saturday evening meal at a local hostelry and we welcome anyone who would like to join us. If you anticipate coming along to the Park on Sat or Sun or both days, and/or would like to make a reservation for the evening meal, please contact Janette.

Cholmondeley Pageant of Power

Unfortunately, Ian has received too few expressions of interest to make it possible for us to go ahead and be at Cholmondley this year.
The Pageant of Power will go ahead but you won't find a CPUK stand. Members who attend the weekend individually will be treated to a spectacle full of cars, bikes and powerboats amongst other attractions. For further details about the weekend and activities go to www.cpop.co.uk

Pub Lunch & Visit to Bowman Vintage Commercials Museum (very close to the National Rail Museum, Shildon)

Meet for a pub lunch before visiting the vintage commercials museum which displays the 120 year history of the Bowman family's haulage business. The present collection of 40 classic commercials illustrates the progression of road haulage from horse and cart to modern diesel engined lorries.

Within walking distance is also the National Rail Museum at Shildon. So, a prefect summer's day out to explore more about vintage transport.

Thornfalcon Classic Car Meeting
The Parklands by the Mount Somerset Hotel, Henlade nr Taunton, Somerset TA3 6SG

One of the south-west's largest gatherings, this is an informal free event, usually drawing in excess of 600 classic cars. Lunch is available at the event but most people bring a picnic.

We'll meet at 10.30am at the Blackbrook Tavern carpark (just off junc 25 of the M5 on the A358 to Ilminster) and go together to the classic car meet in order to be parked together. Please contact Alison in advance to get further details.

Our Nige heads list of star drivers at Autosport 1000km of Silverstone

The Le Mans 24 Hours is the biggest blue-riband motorsport events of the year.
Its unique blend of fast cars, glamorous women, top drivers and vibrant party atmosphere attracts an enormous pilgrimage of British race fans every year, with tens of thousands making the trip.
But there is no need to go all the way to France for this high-octane, tyre-burning sports car action.
For those who are not fortunate enough to head to La Sarthe this year, or if you just cannot get enough of Le Mans fever, the Autosport 1000km of Silverstone is a must-see event on the 2010 calendar, as all the fun, colour and ambience of the 24 Hours will be recreated right here in the UK.
Star names such as Nigel Mansell, Allan McNish, Giancarlo Fisichella and Nicolas Minassian will do battle in the season finale of the Le Mans Series on September 10-12 in the behemoths of Le Mans from manufacturers like Audi, Peugeot, Aston Martin, BMW, Porsche and Ford.
The Silverstone event is a firm favourite with the Le Mans Series regulars and fans alike, as it invariably produces a climactic finish to the championship. Last year, ex-F1 and touring car star, Jean-Christophe Boullion made it a thrilling finish, charging from last to first in just one hour of the endurance race.

Whether it is the extreme 400bhp+ sports prototypes or the mouth-watering selection of GT1 and GT2 cars that get you excited, there will be something for everyone at Silverstone on Sept 10-12, including plenty of star-spotting - Mansell, McNish and Fisichella will be joined by a clutch of ex-F1 racers, including Pedro Lamy, Marc Gene, Alex Wurz, Olivier Panis and Sebastien Bourdais.

CPUK National Rally Dinner

Get into the Peugeot spirit the day before the National! The annual pre-rally dinner will be a great chance to enjoy like-minded conversation and The Stag is the winner of the national 'Best Food Pub of the Year' award. The pub is conveniently situated just off the Fosse Way (B4455) about 3 miles out of Leamington Spa.

National Rally celebrating 200 years of Peugeot

Heritage Motor Centre, Banbury Road, Gaydon, Warwickshire CV35 0BJ

The 2010 National Rally will be held at the Heritage Motor Centre where we will be the feature Club at the Autumn Classic Day. The Heritage Motor Centre is home to the world's largest collection of over 250 British cars, ranging from the 1890s to the present. Other on-site attractions include the 4x4 school, go-karting and children's miniature roadway and playground. Easily accessible from the M40 (junc 12), Gaydon offers a great day out for everyone. With Peugeot Motor Company's support, we hope to make this THE day of UK celebrations marking the 200th anniversary of the company and aim to entice even more members to come along to the National Rally than ever before.

The rally will open at 10am and members should follow signs to the Southern Arena. Once there, come to the Peugeot tri-axle trailer to register and collect your welcome packs. Commemorative rally plates, free goodies and voting forms will be amongst the items included in these packs.

CPUK has negotiated special discounted rates of �£5 per person (under 5's free) for entry into the museum if paid for in advance. This is reduced from the normal �£9 admission price. In order to benefit from the reduced rate, members should send cheques payable to CPUK to Alison (contact details below): wristbands showing you have pre-paid entry will then be ready for collection in your rally pack on the day.

The day will include the chance to see a wide variety of vehicles - Peugeots as well as the museum displays. Members will also have the chance to vote for trophy winners, win raffle prizes, enjoy French food and drink and join in the autojumble. If you would like to have space for items of autojumble, please say so in advance.
