CPUK Irish Peugeot Day
IRISH PEUGEOT DAY OUTING
VISIT TO BALLAGHMORE CASTLE SUNDAY 13TH AUGUST 2006
In response to expressions of interest in having a day out for Irish members of Club Peugeot UK and other enthusiasts of preserved Peugeot cars, this event has been arranged as the first opportunity for many of us to meet and to gel together as an informal group.
The plan is to meet on a Sunday morning at 11.00 at the green in Kinnitty, a village a few miles north of Roscrea. From there we take a drive through the scenic Slieve Bloom Mountains, including a trip over The Cut. Then we make our way to the restored 15th century Ballaghmore Castle for about 1.30 pm, where we can park our cars at the rear of the castle, away from the public road. A light lunch will be provided in the castles medieval surroundings. A guided tour of the castle follows and we can relax, chat and enjoy our cars for the afternoon.
There is no entry fee as this is not a rally and no entry numbers shall be displayed. The only costs to be charged are those that occur at the castle itself. The drive from Kinnitty is optional and the route, although copies of it will be provided on the day, is merely suggested. The core of the event is a group visit to the castle, which is on private property. For those who cannot meet us at Kinnitty, they may join us at Ballaghmore Castle. The castle is on the N7 between Borris-in-Ossory and Roscrea.
The lunch consisting of soup, sandwiches, tea/coffee and biscuits costs ?12 per head. I would need to collect this money in advance, as we have to indicate definite numbers for adequate catering staff and supplies to be laid on for the day. On receipt of entry forms, I will issue special tickets by return of post. Consequently, entries on the day cannot be accepted. Admission charges to the castle including the tour are ?5 per adult, ?3 for a child or ?10 per family. For more information on Ballaghmore Castle, the website address is www.castleballaghmore.com. I should point out that as the castle has a number of steep stairs, it might not suit those with mobility problems.
Owners of other French marques are welcome, so if you know of any other enthusiasts with suitable cars of French manufacture, please mention this event and ask them to contact me should they wish to attend.
