Day of 1000 Classics report
Having just bought Peter Vaughan` lovely 504 V6 Cabriolet from him I decided to take the car to Cholmondley Castle Day of a 1000 Classics as a dry run for the up-coming Cholmondley Pageant of Power in July at which we have a CPUK stand.
So I loaded the usual stuff and Colette (!!!) into the car and set off with the hood down of course. We went the scenic route through Runcorn, Frodsham and Delamere, past Oulton Park and onto Tarporley.
The Castle is a bit out of the way but the event was well signposted. The first thing I noticed was that on the journey I did not come across any other classics until we were about three miles from the venue which I thought was a bit strange but when we arrived we were pleasantly surprised by the volume of cars and motorbikes that were there.
We got parked up on the obligatory grass field (in no particular order) and started to get set up. The weather was fantastic and the car looked great in the sunshine with its yellow colour really standing out. Unfortunately there were no other Peugeots there on show but there was still plenty to see.
If I was honest the autojumble was disappointing but as it was an early event in the year I suppose this can be excused. The day was made up of wandering around the cars and bikes, looking at the various jumble and watching the cars in the parade ring. Sitting by the car I was answering lots of questions about the car and also promoting CPUK.
One nice surprise was when our daughter Hannah turned up unannounced which pleased Colette no end!
All in all not a bad day and whilst not an official CPUK event very worthwhile for getting a feel for how The Pageant will be set up in July.
