The CPUK National weekend started with the now traditional pre-rally dinner and this year we gathered at an Italian restaurant just outside Rockingham. Formally the station hotel, we were able to take over a private corner to talk petrol engines rather than steam engines. The menu was extensive; so extensive in fact that some of us hadn't got as far as the desserts when pre-ordering and then felt rather left out when the sweet, tasty creations were served! Luckily, that little problem was soon sorted, allowing several people to enjoy the forgotten delights of banana splits once again.
