The festival of French and Italian motoring, set in idyllic Gloucestershire countryside, will this year be organised slightly differently with vehicles grouped according to country of manufacture. Other attractions include the excellent museum detailing Bugatti's history, paddocks where spectators are encouraged to get up close to the competing racing cars, competitive hill climbing events, cavalcades up the famous hill and much, much more. We are once again concentrating our efforts on the Sunday so do come along and join us. Contact: Alison Budd email events@clubpeugeotuk.orgSeveral members made the trip to the annual festival of French motoring at Prescott this year despite the slight change in vibe since the Italians were let in last year it was still a good day. We assembled at a local farm shop/coffee shop for a morning coffee before heading the last few miles in convoy to ensure that we were able to park together due to changes in the parking arrangements. Rob Exell had done an excellent job of sorting the venue and was met by Jonathan Lingham in his 205, Kevin Jones in his 205 GTi, Roger Turner in his 508 RXh, Richard and Bea Harrison in their 508 and myself in my 304 cab. Unfortunately Rob had had a terrible journey down from Scotland the day before after car and roadworks trouble, arriving home at 3:30am, so he left us to head home to bed as we all headed down to the venue at about 10:30. Once parked up the various members went their separate ways to enjoy the attractions of the show. As expected at the home of the Bugatti Owners Club several of their cars were in attendance, including a Chiron and a couple of Veyrons. During our tours of the site we ran into a few Peugeots that were competing in the hill climb – as ever the paddock was a friendly place to be with opportunities to closely examine the cars and chat to the competitors. There was also the possibility to visit the Bugatti trust’s museum in which Jonathan found a Bebe Peugeot or as the Bugatti lot like to call it a Bugatti Type 19! The spectacular “Beast of Turin” Fiat racing car was also in attendance and made quite a show and incredible noise as it went up the hill on demonstration runs at various points in the day. Most members found their way back to the cars for lunch and we were treated to the spectacular sight of a Spitfire doing a flypast as we finished. The afternoon was spent watching the competitive times being set on the hill climb – every member seemed to have a preferred ‘secret’ spot to watch from, and some of them must have been good as I never managed to find some of them! All in all a good day was had by all.
