This year was the first year we have taken a stand at this show which is run by the same organisers as the November NEC Classic Car Show. To be honest and although it was a two day show it still took a great deal of organising which as it was so close to The NEC in November I was not looking forward to. Suffice to say I should not have worried as the weekend turned out to be a good weekend for CPUK in a very much relaxed atmosphere with plenty of time to talk and work! We had three cars on the stand; my 1925 Type 172, my recently restored 202 Estate and Alastair Inglis barn find 203. Alastair was joined by Mike Gunasekara and they had a busy weekend both working on the engine rebuild of the 203 and asking many questions about the cars restoration. We were ably joined on Sunday by Doug Whiffen who was a great help on the day. I managed to fit the third row of seats(Sarpontins) in my 202 which were missing which I made up of mark 1 Land Rover Discovery rear facing seats and mobility scooter frames! As with all these things we have to “test the water” to see how we get the best out of an event and after our experience we would definitely commit to the Show again. So, if you have a car which you think is a candidate for a future stand at the Restoration Show can get the car to the NEC and can help man the stand for the weekend please let me know.
