Club Peugeot UK National Rally, Sunday 1st September 2019, Kelmarsh Hall, Kelmarsh, Northampton, NN6 9LY
This year’s National Rally will be held around the Palladian grandeur of Kelmarsh Hall. Dating from the 1730s and designed by Gibbs, whose work includes the Radcliffe Camera in Oxford. the hall was decorated during the 1920s & 30s by a former owner, a partner in the interior design company Colefax and Fowler, and has the warmth of a family home. Life was very different for the servants, of course, and Kelmarsh received a Heritage Lottery Fund grant to bring these areas back to life. Club members can visit the Hall, below-stairs exhibition and gardens and we will have a reserved parking area from which to enjoy the day. The life-below-stairs exhibition is well worth visiting and an app can be downloaded from the website to give more information about activities based on this part of the property. Entry to the Grade II* gardens, designated by English Heritage as being of national importance and by the RHS as a Partner Garden, is also included and we are lucky that our visit coincides with a special Dahlia Day, held within the renowned walled gardens.
